Personnel

Mr. Geoffrey S. Lyford, Project Coordinator (403 630 2629), has been a project manager in the local market area of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with 22 years experience, and has developed conceptual and test applications which constitute the body of technology of Construction Technologies which is detailed in another section. He has also assisted with the following:

Energy efficiency retrofits, including  passive solar, heating and cooling,  indoor air quality, building envelope upgrades, lighting  and interior decor comprise the scope of work for the owner of a two storey commercial building of 7500 square feet including basement. Located near the intersection of 16th Avenue and Center Street NW, the current project is in the concept design phase.

Homes, Inc. required an experienced, hands-on site supervisor to finish a partially completed ten unit apartment condominium, Elboya House, close to downtown, Calgary Alberta. I  put the project back on track and met high standards of finish to complete the project successfully for occupancy.

Global Housing Solutions, Inc. - required product development assistance with a concrete home for low cost housing markets in 1998 - 9. My work was to draft and build a one quarter scale model prototype in order to demonstrate assembly, production and engineering details.

Albany Homes, Inc. was developing a Structural Insulating Panel (SIP) home for local and export markets. Together with the client, with SIP manufacturer Thermopan, and with engineer Ron Husack we manufactured the SIP's and erected the prototype.

Design/Build for a Crescent Heights East family resulted in one of the most unique homes in Calgary. The addition increased the energy efficiency of the home and featured a two story rammed earth wall for passive heat storage, a solarium, and an External Finish Insulation System. Engineering required materials testing by Mr. Lyford of rammed earth samples in conjunction with engineering consultant Mr. Andrew Dunan.

Mr. Bryan Wareing, Business Development Coordinator, is currrently the owner/operator of an organizational, economic and business development consulting practice, Wareing Associates, and owns GeoCompTM, an information graphics operation. Until recently he was a founding director, vice-president and general manager of Blackstone Development Inc., a mining company, from which he resigned in April of 1999. Before joining partners to establish Blackstone Development Inc., his thirty years of experience in  business, industry and government including community and organizational development as well as marketing, business and  information research, business and marketing development and other roles for the Government of Manitoba, Boeing Aircraft, and as a  chemist for Kodak among others. Mr. Wareing has an acknowledged record of innovative firsts in the range of fields in which he has  worked. Contact:  Bryan Wareing

With Kodak Limited in England it was a series of production solutions for chemical syntheses. For Kodak Canada and Eastman Kodak it was a technical training design model which became an international standard for new manufacturing facility development as well as designing, developing and managing the first Canadian pre-supervisory/pre-management assessment centre and numerous behavioural management training program techniques.

As a manager with Boeing Canada he built a complete human resource training and development system from scratch and achieved productivity improvements through skill training while upgrading the safety, industrial health and environmental performance of the organization. It was this record of achievements and the high profile afforded by Boeing that secured him a Senior Consultant position with the Government of Manitoba, one that demanded a minimum entrance qualification of a Masters or  Ph. D degree or its equivalent in experience, in the Department of Economic Development and Tourism.

It was from this base that he was chosen, as an acknowledged authority in human resource and organizational development, to join a   four person task group to pioneer and develop community economic development in the province. It is interesting to  note that much of what was developed by that team and the subsequent fourteen consultant branch of government has  the model on which much of Ontario's community economic development has been based.

Mr. David Do, P. Eng. Zenith Engineering, Ltd. Mechanical Engineering Associate. Educated in Germany, Mr Do has worked for  several large Canadian manufacturers. With Mr. Lyford, he has developed the concept for an economical rammed  earth block machine and is currently engaged in designing hemp processing technology. His company has designed and manufactured various equipment which are being used in  Canada, USA, and South America. He has a number of processes and designs currently under development including a low cost drill bit   sharpening machine, and soil reclamation process equipment.  Zenith Engineering products and services are: Oil pumping units, Pyrolytic Furnace, Incinerators, Shredders for tires, plasitc blocks, etc., Conveyors (belt, screw,  conveyors), Vibrating Screens for gravel and chemicals, Hammermills, Sulphur recovery plant (wash and  hydro-cyclone), Filtering System (40 barrels/minute), Low Temperature Thermal Desorbtion, Noise Enclosures, Horse    Exercising Machine, Stress Calculations WRC107, Power Rolls for pressure vessel fabrication. He uses a variety of software to design and manage projects that are a blend of traditional construction methods and computer aided manufacturing. This includes 3D visualization using 3D Studio MAX and computer aided design and manufacturing using Bentley Systems MicroStationJ. Whether it be cutting a large custom worksurface with industrial lasers or modeling animated characters for educational programs for children, the cutting edge of technology is used to bring concept, production, and presentation into harmonious and interactive unification. Brett is also an experienced cabinetmaker and carpenter.
